Greetings:

Here is what has been happening this week:

1. Prof. Babak Amir Parviz was coauthor on a paper that appeared in the last issue of Science and which has been selected within this week's issue as one of the Editor's Choices, a rather prestigious honor within this already top-rated journal.

The title of the paper is "An Integrated Approach to a Portable and Low-Cost Immunoassay for Resource-Poor Settings" by Samuel K. Sia, Vincent Linder, Babak Amir Parviz, Adam Siegel, and George M. Whitesides. The paper can be found on-line on wiley.com.

2. Just as another reminder, our next EE Friday Social for Friday, February 13, 2004, will be held jointly with the CS&E Department. It will happen in the Main Floor Atrium of the Paul Allen Center from 3:30 - 4:30pm and will have the theme of a "Rocking Valentine's Day Party." There will be quite a selection of baked goods from a local French style bakery, and beer will be available to all of those of eligible age. I hope everyone can come out and socialize with your colleagues and our neighbors in CS&E!!!

Enjoy!
