Greetings: Here is a (slightly late) summary of some of the happenings in EE last week: 1. Prof. Sumit Roy has received a grant from the National Science Foundation for a new project titled "ITR RescueNet: Embedded In-Building Sensor Networks to Assist Disaster Rescue." The project has been funded at a level of $404,687 and will run for four years. 2. Prof. Sumit Roy has also received $77,000 in gift funds from the Intel Corporation, to support the first year of work on "Next Gen Mesh Networks: Phy/MAC Based Optimization." The project is planned to run for three years with a proposed total funding of $237,000. CONGRATULATIONS, Sumit!!! 3. On Thursday, Feb. 12, Prof. Elyse Rosenbaum from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gave our EE Department Colloquium titled "ESD Protection for Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits." The on-demand streaming video of this talk can be found here. We had a great attendance for this seminar which gave a very good introduction into the world of electrostatic discharges (ESD). 4. On Friday, Feb. 13, we had a great turn out for our Rocking Valentine's Day Friday Social. Both the EE and CS&E faculty and students were treated to some nice French style pastries and a keg of beer. Thanks everyone for showing up and participating! Enjoy the week! --Bruce Robert Bruce Darling, Ph.D., P.E. |
