EE/CSE IEEEXtreme Team Wins Regional Prize

Students from EE and CSE took first place in region six at the IEEEXtreme Team competition. IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE student members compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. The competition is supported by an IEEE Student Branch, and advised and proctored by an IEEE Member.

The EE/CSE team, "TBD" consisted of undergraduate students Jiaqi Wang (EE/CSE), Conrad Meyer (CSE) and Mark Jordan (CSE). The competition took place on October 23rd, 2010, and a total of 970 teams in 50 countries (10 regions total) of IEEE registered for it and competed. The prize was based on the number of problems solved and time used, and the team which solved the most problems in shortest time ranked 1st.

This competition was not only intellectually challenging, but physically challenging as well. The UW team members viewed the challenge as a valuable experience and would recommend that other people participate in it in the future.
