Hacking Kinect for Robotic Surgery

Students from EE's Biorobotics Lab have adapted Microsoft's Kinect gaming system for robotic surgery research. Visiting graduate student Fredrik Ryden has been working with Professors Howard Chizeck and Blake Hannaford on this project. The original video demonstrating the haptics-Kinect work was posted on YouTube last December and has received nearly 27,000 hits. Since then the project has received a lot of media attention.
