High School Student Shines at CHI 2011

Akash Badshah, the first high school student to lead author, present, and win a best of CHI award in the nearly 30 year history of the CHI conference, presented his paper on a self-powered haptic feedback device in front of huge crowd. The room was standing room only and they even had to setup an overflow room and pipe video to it. The talk was fantastic.

Akash, a high school junior from Bellevue, worked in Assistant Professor Shwetak Patel's research lab in the summer of 2010 as a part of Patel's summer high school research program, where high school students work on intense 10-week long research projects. Akash is now completing his senior year at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.
