SNUPI Technologies Launches, UW Spinoff Receives $1.5M in Funding

SNUPI Technologies, a startup company stemming from technology developed by UWEE and CSE Assistant Professor Shwetak Patel, EE graduate student Gabe Cohn, and Professor Matt Reynolds of Duke University has announced that it has received $1.5 million in funding from venture capital firms Madrona Venture Group, Radar Partners, and several of the company's founders.

Sensors developed by SNUPI (Sensor Network Utilizing Powerline Infrastructure) Technologies are small, easily deployed wireless devices that can detect a variety of environmental hazards that may occur in a user's home. These low cost sensors can function for more than ten years without having to replace the batteries. SNUPI Technologies will be led by serial Seattle tech entrepreneur Jeremy Jaech.
