Rico Malvar Elected to National Academy of Engineering

Rico Malvar EE Affiliate Professor Henrique (Rico) Malvar has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Rico is Chief Scientist at Microsoft Research and has contributed substantially to EE's programs as well as others at UW.

His citation reads "for contributions to multiresolution signal processing and multimedia signal compression and standards".

Election to the Academy is one of the highest honors given to an engineer. As Dean O'Donnell has stated: "it is a tremendous honor to be elected to the National Academy of Engineering and this recognition speaks volumes of the amazing work being done at UW."
